Biowood Composite Timber is a sustainable architectural building solution that beautifully combines the look of wood with enhanced durability.
It is made from PEFC-certified recycled wood floor and high-quality hard PVC plastic. This is where Biowood really stands out. While many other composite wood products use soft plastics, such as HDPE from shopping bags and bottles, Biowood utilises a hard plastic. This choice significantly boosts the strength and longevity of our products.
Our timber alternative offers a range of impressive benefits. Biowood is resistant to termites, has excellent water resistance (with less than 0.05% water absorption), and provides UV protection.
These features make Biowood Composite Timber an ideal choice for a variety of applications in both residential and commercial settings
Biowood Composite Timber distinguishes itself from other wood-plastic composites (WPC) through several unique features:
1. Hard PVC Plastic: Biowood uses hard PVC plastic, enhancing the overall quality and longevity of the product compared to other WPCs.
2. High Wood Content: With 69% wood powder, Biowood is homogeneous throughout, allowing for multiple resanding and resealing, similar to natural timber.
3. Water Resistance: Biowood boasts exceptional water resistance, with less than 0.05% water absorption, protecting against moisture-related issues like warping and rotting.
4. Termite Resistance: Biowood is highly resistant to termite damage, ensuring durability and longevity in various environments.
5. Sustainability: Biowood is made from PEFC-certified recycled wood, supporting environmentally friendly practices.
6. Low Maintenance: The material does not splinter, crack, or rot, reducing the need for frequent upkeep.
These features make Biowood a superior choice for those seeking a durable, sustainable, and versatile alternative to traditional timber and other composite wood products.
Biowood offers a wide range of products, including decking, shiplap & castellated cladding, screening, soffits, ceilings, facades, and architectural profiles. These products are available in various colors and finishes, providing versatile solutions for different architectural and design needs.
Even timber fades. Timber must be maintained every 6-12 months. Biowood being 69% wood powder will still oxidize but in a slower rate.
For decking application, taking into factor the wear and tear is 2-3 years while cladding is 3-5 years with 5% colour reduction.
Biowood is categorised as low maintenance. Like any other WPC and like any timber product, the strong Australian sun will have some effect on it.
The advantage using Biowood being 69% wood powder can be resanded and resealed as it is homogenous right through. Incidentally, the Biowood Weatherwood & Driftwood colour was made to make it look like, well, weathered, faded, naturally sun-kissed wood.
If the Weatherwood colour is not sealed, it will fade, but it won’t be as noticeable as fading on other colours.
An Australian company based in New South Wales has developed a quick drying polyurethane seal (Bioseal) for Biowood reconstituted wood composite products for external application uv protective coating.
Bioseal is a non-toxic, non-hazardous, water-based product that is uniquely for Biowood products. It cannot be used with other WPC products or on any timber. It will protect the Biowood products from fading when exposed to the sun as much as 3 times longer than normal coating.

Yes, Biowood is versatile and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. It’s designed to withstand various environmental conditions, being flame-resistant, water-resistant, and mould and mildew resistant. Biowood products are proven for use in both residential and commercial settings.
As all Composite Wood products it will be pleasantly warm. CSIRO tests reports that the heat release is 1 on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the highest heat gain material. Again, please don’t take our word for it.
We recommend grabbing some samples from different manufacturers, leave it in the sun during the hottest part of the day for maybe 5-10 minutes then put your bare foot or hand on it. Your experience will be the best test. Dark colours will absorb more heat than light colours.
